NOT the thought of the day

I keep sharing great thoughts, today too I will share one, but first
this stupid thought from Jay Leno about how to find who are your true
friends.

"Go through your phone book, call people and ask them to drive you to
the airport. The ones who will drive you are your true friends. The rest
aren't bad people; they're just acquaintances."

- Jay Leno

This is such a crock of BS! There maybe restricting circumstances in the
case of some of the people who refuse to drive you and in the case of
those who do drive you there maybe other motivation than true
friendship. For example, an agent who is involved in a big deal you are
in the middle of negotiating, he'll drive you to the moon just to earn
points with you. Same can be said of numerous people who would love to
place you under their obligation. Then there are people who love to help
other humans out, even if they are just acquaintances or even strangers.
And how about your mother-in-law? She'll drive you just so she can have
you for 2 hours in a place where she can bite your ear about how you
should run your life. Too many possibilities.

My best friend, a true friend, is in India, I am in the UK, if either of
us need a ride to the airport, we'll just have to say no. Does that make
us acquaintances?

All I would say is that if you have to use this technique to find out
who your true friends are then either you are really really stupid or
you have spent most of your life in a cave. I am surprised this useless
thought comes from Jay Leno, I thought him to be a very smart man. Maybe
somebody has misquoted it.
